TRUST THE PROCESS
When you receive a call from the doctor at 9:30pm on a Friday night, you know the diagnosis is not going to be good. In 24 hours, our whole world turned upside down. Elly was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) on June 1, 2020. Cancer not only affects the individual going through treatment, but it affects the entire family. Especially when also trying to navigate the way through a global pandemic. The sacrifices we all had to make because of her, for her…all to protect her. Our family of 4 became closer, stronger and more solid because of her. It's a 2.5 year journey, but even after "treatment" is over - is it ever really over? The worrying, the little coughs and colds, the blood draws, the checkups...
We still have a long road ahead, but I am inspired by my strong unicorn warrior and I’m stepping up to FIGHT.LIKE.EL
This year, our family is proud to be participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Visionaries of the Year campaign in honor of Elly. We are working to make the largest impact possible for LLS's mission. It is because of LLS that she was able to RING THE BELL and end treatment successfully in August of 2022 and is now 8 years old and thriving.
Thanks to your support, our efforts will help fund therapies and treatments that are saving lives. Over the years, support from people like you has been responsible for the blood cancer advancements that have doubled, tripled, and in some cases quadrupled the survival rate for some blood cancers.
Many LLS supported therapies not only help blood cancer patients but are also now used to treat patients with rare forms of stomach and skin cancers and are in clinical trials for patients with lung, brain, breast, pancreatic and prostate cancers. And LLS funded drugs like targeted therapies and immunotherapies are now saving thousands of lives every day.
